Lancaster High School (LHS) Students take Academic Preparedness beyond their Lancaster Boundaries

In what promises to be the first of many, the LHS Jr. World Affairs Council, Men of Distinction and Ladies of Distinction, will join forces for a service learning project focusing on improving the educational opportunity for children living in the rural villages of Africa. The students have partnered with the nonprofit organization, Wings of the Dawn, to bring needed educational materials to children in Nigeria.  Wings of the Dawn is a 501(c3) nonprofit organization dedicated to closing the literacy gap plaguing so many African nations. The campaign ran from Wednesday, May 14th beginning with lunch campaigns at LHS and culminating with a Super Saturday drive on May 31st where community member’s drop off backpacks filled with school supplies or participate in the “Can you spare a $1” fundraising activity that generate $1,155.47
